The Grand Park du Puy du Fou, in rural Vendée has spread interest outside the French borders. During the day, several shows give life to the park and one of the favourite is “The Phantom Birds Dance”. A unique presentation of birds of prey in a specially designed theatre with up to 50 birds flying together over the public. In order to be able to present the 300 bird actors, an off-the-scene facility has been designed to breed them, which guaranties both protection of wild birds of prey and self-sufficiency for the park. Half of the 54 species breed here yearly. 99 aviaries are carefully monitored, eggs are incubated naturally or artificially, and chicks are parents or human raised. A work of passion from the local dedicated falconer’s team.
