A couple of Australian scientists raises to the heights of the tallest trees of the Queensland jungles, in order to let us know more about one of the strangest parrots on Earth. The Eclectus, whose males (bright green) and females (bright red) are so different it has long been believed they were of two species. Why, that is what Sarah Legge and Robert Heinsohn try to uncover.
The parrot is also socially apart, as one female is assisted during breeding by several males, a unique observation which definitely puts the Eclectus in the category of the beautiful and special birds.
