Ces îles fiancées à l'Atlantique, bénéficient d'un climat doux, d'une végétation luxuriante, d'une population accueillante. Zone historique de chasse du cachalot au harpon, elles ont définitivement tourné cette page il y a une douzaine d'années.

Pico, l'île baleinière principale est devenue grâce à un entrepreneur touristique français, un lieu de rencontre privilégié -abondance et diversité- avec les mammifères marins: cachalots évidemment, mais aussi une grande variété de baleines et dauphins.



These islands have been married to the Atlantic. Just about half way between Europe and America, they benefit from a mild climate that grows a wealth of green vegetation. But this is mainly the privilege site to encounter marine mammals from dolphins of different species, to many whales. Especially the

big Sperm Whale, a gentle giant hunted here for ages and nowadays only visible to friendly tourists, thanks to the local experts.
